Pigybak, the marketplace for smart homeowners and savvy contractors, is celebrating the first anniversary of its beta release with the introduction of a new feature called Pigybak Ride. With this neighborly contracting feature, users can post a home improvement project to their neighbors, share their needs, recruit help and get deals on the services they require. As Pigybak puts it, “think of it as the carpool lane, but instead of rides, you’re pooling for home services.”

I met an entrepreneur, Tino Go, scaling up on-demand kitchen cabinet manufacturing with a company called Baru. There was another founder, Shanna Greathouse, with a company called Pigybak that connects homeowners with contractors and consolidates the latter’s visits.

“For every 50 contractors that retire, only seven enter the workforce,” explains Shanna Greathouse, Founder and CEO of Pigybak, a startup at the intersection of social impact and home services. “In 2025, we were already facing a 50,000 employee labor shortage across the US for contractors – and that was before recent policy changes that have only exacerbated the situation.”
