presenting pigybak | the sustainable home services app
Table of Content
On August 14, 2023 pigybak officially went live on the App Store and Google Play – and on August 16 we were #3 on Google Play in the Home category!
This was a huge undertaking in just five months. There are so many features we have infused into our product to get it to market and it would not have been possible without having a stellar technical partner. While our launch is focused on Cleveland, it is available across the US for any grassroots evangelists who are passionate about bringing pigybak to their own neighborhood.
In recent years, the average age of a contractor has increased from 32 years old to 42 years old. For every 50 contractors who retire, only 7 enter the trades. Booking a contractor has never been so difficult – or stressful.
pigybak is about making the world a little easier and kinder through automation, one neighborhood at a time – a place where small business owners can focus on the quality services they are so passionate about, and let pigybak manage the lead generation. For homeowners, it is the tool to coordinate deals, work with your neighbors, and build up your neighborhood. It lets homeowners sit back and be more passive in looking for a contractor – we all work too hard already in our day-to-day.
Here are my top ten features in pigybak and why I love them so much:
-
Tiered Pricing – Homeowners are given pricing for the job, and rewarded with discounts for the amount of neighbors who pigybak on. Think of it like the referral fee contractors often give, but it is awarded right to you when your job is being worked on.
-
Active Services in Your Area – View the upcoming services happening in your neighborhood and get reminders on things like seasonal change overs that may have slipped your mind.
-
Messaging – Message with matched contractors directly like texting and book your appointments, confirm job details, and even schedule all within your message thread. No learning a whole new interface just to book a contractor.
-
Sustainability Focus – This is a big one. Our core mission is to have less miles driven, cutting emissions and improving quality of life for small business owners. Home service providers can drive dozens of miles between jobs in order to reach a bid to get work for the next couple of weeks. We optimize and cluster jobs together to reduce wasted travel time.
-
Wishlist – Homeowners can manage their wishlist in the app and easily convert it to an active Service Request when they are ready, or let the wishlist find a deal. We do this by bundling neighbor wishlist items in the back end and pushing to a 4 star contractor one at a time for the best deal you can get – purchasing power.
-
Notifications of jobs booked nearby – Alerts notify you of Active Services booked in the area so you do not have to check directly in the app daily.
-
2 Way Rating – At the end of a job, both the homeowner and the contractor are requested to rate.
-
Calendar view of schedule – Contractors can make their calendar visible to the neighborhoods they work and manage their calendar in the app.
-
DEI focus – Contractors can select if they are minority-owned, woman-owned, veteran-owned and badges are highlighted on their profiles. Homeowners can even filter for jobs based on these criteria.
-
pigybak – Homeowners get notified when active services are scheduled in thee area 1 week in advance, and then select “Pigybak” to request a bid while the contractor is in the area.
